Daniel Earnshaw is Company CEO and the Director in charge of the Retail and Production sectors of the company.
He is a business studies & marketing graduate with 30 years’ experience in the timber, retail and fencing sectors. A direct descendant of Job Earnshaw, he has been the driving force that has helped the business evolve into its current market position.
A keen sports fan Daniel loves his cricket, hockey and motorsport or is just as happy tinkering with his collection of classic cars and tractors.
Director in charge of Estates along with the Company’s woodland and forestry work, Peter Earnshaw is a graduate in Forestry from Bangor University and has worked for the company since 1980.
A keen countryman, Peter combines his love of forestry and nature with outdoor pursuits and field sports. An ardent environmentalist, Peter ensures all our forests and working practices are ‘green’ and was a key member in gaining the company’s chain of custody certification.
Bringing experience gained at Boots the Chemist, First Leisure PLC and then Kalon in HR, training and people management functions, Lynda Earnshaw joined the Earnshaws team in April 2018 as Head of HR.
She now oversees the strategic planning, compliance and day to day staff management functions of the business. This includes recruitment, interviewing and inducting new staff. Lynda also ensures the team are well trained and motivated in order to deliver excellent service to customers.
When Lynda isn’t busy at one of our centres she can often be found horse riding or spending time with her two girls, following their various sporting endeavours!
The latest addition to the Earnshaws team is Karen Earnshaw, who took over as Company Secretary and CFO in February 2019 to manage the company finances and administration.
She is a fully qualified accountant with a superb working history in a number of companies, both large and small, latterly as a European Controller for a large global pharmaceutical business.
When she isn’t squaring accounts at Earnshaws, Karen likes to indulge her passion for travelling wherever possible, spend time with her family and assorted animals and attend yoga and pilates classes – to counteract the hours spent in front of the computer!
At Earnshaws we have been quietly developing our business for seven generations and today we are one of the North’s largest suppliers of timber garden fencing. We are also one of a rare breed of companies who have proudly grown under family ownership for over 150 years.
We seek to offer customers a unique retail experience, excellence in customer service and a wealth of garden design, landscaping and outdoor lifestyle inspiration.
Both of our centres are located in accessible locations, with ample free parking, where customers can explore the wide choice of carefully selected garden landscaping products and outdoor living ranges available. Everyone is free to browse and interact with on-site displays in peace and quiet but help and advice from specialists is always on hand!
We continue to offer a huge range of traditional timber fencing, gates, decking, furniture, sheds and log cabins alongside contemporary cabin ranges, decking and furniture made from modern composite materials. We also stock paving, artificial grass, traditional and contemporary planters plus a range of garden art and stone ornaments.
Our on-site shops have all the tools, accessories, preservatives, fixings, ironwork and finishing touches needed to complete any project – making us an impressive one-stop-shop for every garden makeover project – with huge stocks ready to take away.
Finally, our experienced counter staff will organise delivery if you need it and recommend a contractor if you require a professional to help put your plan into action.
You will normally find we have what you are looking for in stock at both of our centres. However, from time to time, less popular lines may only be stocked in bulk at our Midgley Centre.
We will happily transfer the stock you need for collection at your nearest centre, so please feel free to ask the staff on site. If you are looking for a very specific line or a large quantity, please phone ahead to check that it’s in stock.
At Earnshaws we have always had a strong interest in ecological and environmental matters. From sourcing our material to managing our woodland, we have always worked to the very best practise.
We always try to minimise fuel miles on all our outwards deliveries and purchases, and try to source locally wherever possible.
Based in Yorkshire, we are one of the region’s oldest timber and forestry businesses. With sustainability and respect for the environment firmly at our roots, we aim to use timber from sustainable sources, whenever possible.
Our timber processing, driveway gate manufacturing centre and Head Office, near Wakefield, is one of the most successful examples of re-purposing in the area – as it sits on the site of the old Denby Grange colliery and mine.
However, this is just the tip of the iceberg and our commitment to sustainable timber fencing, garden and landscaping products is matched by our determination to operate to the highest environmental standards across the board.
Having installed a culture of caring for the environment the company is committed to finding new and innovative ways of preserving energy, and deriving heat and power from alternative, low carbon sources.
