In May 2021, the Government introduced domestic fuel use regulations to improve air quality. As a result, we have changed the way we supply firewood to comply with the new regulations.
Our kiln-dried hardwood firewood logs have the lowest moisture content of all our firewood and will burn most readily on any appliance.
All of our kiln-dried firewood for sale is sustainably sourced.
Our air-dried hardwood firewood is from a mix of species, primarily ash, sycamore, oak, beech, birch, alder, lime and goat willow, mostly sourced from our own woodlands.
The firewood timber is cut, stacked and then logged before being stored using our IBC crates to partially season the logs before purchase.
We cannot always guarantee the moisture content of our hardwood logs being 20% or less at the point of purchase. Therefore, all hardwood logs will require further seasoning before burning, to comply with government regulations.
Partially seasoned, air-dried firewood is available for sale from our Midgley centre.
Our softwood firewood logs are mostly larch from our own woodlands, with a small quantity from other local woodlands. The softwood is more suitable for burning on stoves as it has a tendency to spark.

Our firewood kindling is a mixture of sticks and joinery grade timber, which is kiln dried to provide an extremely low moisture content.
Particularly good for firelighting, and very effective burners, our firewood kindling is ideal for use with any appliance.
Please note that our chunky kindling is only available from our Midgley centre.
We advise all of our customers to try out our different firewood options to see which mix best suits their needs.
