We have a prestigious history of innovation, continued expansion and excellent customer service that has seen the company grow from its humble beginnings in 1860 to its present day position as one of the most respected businesses in the Yorkshire region.
Today there are three sites in Midgley, Wentworth and Brigg.
No – all centres offer a full retail experience. We offer a full range of products for the garden, except plants, including:
Yes at Midgley, though Wentworth and Brigg are closed on Sundays. View our full opening times.
We carry huge stocks across many lines, which you may choose to take home with you straightaway. We also offer a delivery service on larger items or for large quantities. We usually aim to deliver from stock within a two or three day period using our own delivery vehicles. Deliveries will be made to an accessible, convenient and safe place for our vehicle and driver. Please discuss your delivery requirements with our counter staff.
Yes – we have a mix of approved contractors who can undertake most fitting work. Our Sheds and Playhouses are all priced including supply and fit and our Cabin ranges can be supplied as a complete ‘turn key package’.
Yes, though we keep a very wide range of stock sizes for immediate collection or prompt delivery, we do have the ability to make most of our products to suit special requirements. Please be aware that it can take a while for bespoke items to be pressure treated so allow time for your project if you can’t use a stock size. All Entrance Gates are supplied on a made to measure service to ensure a perfect fit to your specific driveway.
Whilst most of our external timber is supplied pressure treated, many people will like a different colour or to add further protection. All Sheds and Cabins require further treatment post fitting and our shops are stocked with all the treatments and varnishes that you will need to enhance your goods – please ask in the shop for further advice and assistance.
We try to make as many products as possible, most of the sawn timber is made in house and many of the panel ranges, all our gates and much of the softwood furniture. The products we can’t make in our own sawmill or joinery shops are usually sourced from a mix of local suppliers who we have used for years.
Some of the timber that we process through our mill is grown in our own woodlands though we can’t grow enough material to cover all our production requirements. The other material is locally grown, mainly in forestry commission woodland and hauled to the sawmill by our own timber wagon.
Yes – the company is run by three cousins who are descendents of Job Earnshaw. The board is made up of fourth and fifth generation descendants of the founder and we have a number of sixth generation family members also working for the company.
Yes – in convenient bags of varying sizes and in bulk for commercial use.
Yes – you can make orders for the festive period from early November. In fact our trees are grown on our own woodland and we can supply trees all year round.
Saw milling, wood management, commercial treating, delivery, installation and tree surgery.
Yes – please hit the trade button for details on our trade services or contact Phill Swift at Midgley on 01924 830099 who will be happy to quote.
We do not offer an e-commerce service at the present time though we do have this in our future plans. As many of our products and services rely upon a degree of customer interaction with the sales staff we want to take the time to ensure any on-line selling matches the high calibre experience we can currently offer on a ‘face to face’ basis. You can however browse our online catalogue and submit an enquiry form.
